Building Literacy.org: New Website and Logo Creation

Code Dragon was approached by this client and asked to redesign and modernize his literacy organization’s existing website, and to design and create a logo for him.  The existing website had been created by the client using Dreamweaver, and had an outdated layout style (a thin 3-column vertical layout with content that did not span the full width of the viewer’s screen). Additionally, the older/existing website was not responsive or optimized for viewing on various mobile devices.

The client (Tom Gunninng) is Professor Emeritus at Southern Connecticut State University, where he was director of the Reading Clinic. Tom has taught at all levels and has been a reading specialist in inner-city schools in Philadelphia and Hartford. He is the author of several reading programs and more than a dozen books on literacy.

Code Dragon designed and built the new website using the WordPress CMS platform and the Divi theme. The finished project is educational, warm and inviting. It is also easy to navigate and fully responsive. Features of this new website include a store with products and shipping, a newsletter, free downloadable resources for teachers, and much more. Angela met with Tom regularly and provided WordPress and HTML training and ongoing coaching. View the Building Literacy website here.
